Picking Matcha 1st flush (Nishio, Aichi)

It is unique that tea estates in Nishio, one of big production area of Matcha, is in flat area in town and tea trees grow to height of person.
In sunny mornings in early May, farmers are picking tea leaves for matcha under the shade by their hands, and today, students have joined under one of school programs to understand and experience the local industory.
Tea leaves picked are sent to the Tencha factory to be processed to Tencha in the same day.
