Tea grown in home gardens (mountain area in Shizuoka)
August.19,2022The Umegashima hot spring area, in northern montain of Shizuoka city in Shizuoka pref., is popular as a hot springs area that can be easily visited by car or bicycle, and peoples there are making efforts to cultivate wasabi, shiitake mushrooms, and non-pesticide tea.
Many families grow tea in their own gardens such as those in photos in this articles.
Various insects such as butterflies, ants, and spiders are seen around the tea leaves that have been carefully cared for and grown in the summer sun.
The tea leaves of each household are processed at the village tea factory, and are served at home or at the family-run inn.
